Our Story, One Moment at a Time

Before there were model homes, there was a calling. What follows are real words from Steve & Renée’s own letters — and the moments behind them.

Where It Began

In November 2003, a team of fifteen traveled to Brunswick to build a 3,000-square-foot building for MorningStar Ministries — a champion of troubled, handicapped, and unwanted children.

“In a three-day period, the results achieved by this team of fifteen… were beyond comprehension by human standards.”— Steve McKenzie

The First Church Across the Ocean

On August 7, 2004, a team of seven — five men and two women — flew to Swaziland to build a church, under the covering of Zechariah 4:6.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord.”— Zechariah 4:6

8,500 Miles to Show We Care

Team after team raised block churches across South Africa — a 36×80-foot sanctuary in nine days, a 35×75 in seven. When the wind nearly stopped the roof going on in Kanana, the answer came plainly:

“Sometimes, you just have to do it in the wind.”— The biggest highlight was traveling 8,500 miles to show a community that we cared.

A Church, a Well, and a School

Under Ephesians 2:22, nineteen people laid over 8,000 blocks in seven days to complete the first Pre-Primary School in the Sekororo Valley. On one piece of ground now stood a church, a never-ending fresh-water well, and a school.

“The local people are in awe to see God moving so abundantly.”— 2008 Ministry Letter

When the Cameras Came

A local family lost their son, Ransom, and then nearly lost their half-built home to mold and mounting medical bills. Alongside Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and local partners, TIH helped turn the family’s dream home into reality.

“The family’s dream home has become a reality.”— Our Ministry, in their own words

Every Moment, All at Once

A Globe of Memories

Hundreds of these moments, held together — churches and schools raised, wells dug, families helped. It rests in good hands.
